Emotional or what? On Sunday night back at their home where this whirlwind ride began One Direction returned to the X Factor final to perform one last time before their 18 month hiatus began. Seeing as this was such a momentous moment for all us One Direction supporters and fans I thought it would be highly appropriate to discuss and analyse their performance and everything that happened during this period of time.
Firstly, the boys powerfully graced the stage at the SSE Arena Wembley opening their performance with song Infinity from their phenomenal fifth album Made in the A.M. Great choice of song and lighting effects defiantly setting the mood and atmosphere slightly setting off a mixture of proudness and sadness. Also for me it felt like a moment of reflection, thinking about the past couple of years and everything the guys of one direction have accomplished in this time frame.
Just when you think it’s all over and I was about to go and listen to every single albums entirety, it was announced that they will be performing a second song and immediately I instinctively knew what choice of song it was going to be. However before this Simon, their mentor during One Direction’s time on the X Factor and boss made a sentimental brief speech talking about being casted back five years ago when he originally met five individual soloists and generally appreciating the guys co-operation and insisting he will always be there for them which I rather enjoyed seeing as this shows what a strong relationship the biys have with Simon which has been paramount for the past five years.
Plus a video montage was put together of many famous faces including close friends James Cordon and the members of 5 Seconds Of Summer wishing Louis, Harry, Liam and Niall a happy break and commending them on their consistant hard work and talent which more thank likely made the boys chuffed and overwhelmed that their recongnision is appreciated.
Lastly, as predicted One Direction sung us out with incredible fan dedicated song History and they could not of done a better job pulling off this last live perforamnce for a while. That lyric in the first verse ‘ Now my heart’s breaking and I don’t know what to do’ has never spoke to me so loudly before. Here comes the emotional part of the slides of pictures in the background ranging from fetus pictures to more recent ones of the guys which just made the whole performance so much more memorable and meaningful. Finally to top it all off a group hug was needed and happened.
Being a One Direction fan and have been in the fandon since January 2011 I wish Louis, Liam, Niall and Harry a well deserved, relaxed break and thank you for being respectful and thankful to us and for creating some of the most treasured concerts and years of my life.
